HOMEMADE COLON CLEANSING RECIPES

People have been concocting colon cleansing recipes for centuries, even as far back as the Ancient Greeks and Egyptians.  Colonic health is vital to one’s overall health and well-being.  The digestive tract is where the body gathers and absorbs nutrients, builds the immune system, and feeds all of the body’s functions and systems.  If these systems don’t get the proper nutrients, they won’t perform correctly.

White Sultana Raisins, Senna, and Rose Hips Extract

7 oz White Sultana Raisins

7 oz Senna

1 bottle Rose Hips Extract

Steam the White Sultana Raisins in 1 liter of water. Do the same with the Senna.  Simmer for 30 minutes and then filter the liquids. Let settle. Mix both liquids in a 2.5 liter bottle then add a bottle of Rose Hips Extract into the container. Fill the remainder of the bottle up with boiled water and let it cool. Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and out of the reach of children. For effective colon cleansing, drink 3.5 ounces daily in the evenings for 16 days.

PLUM & TAMARIND JAM

11 pounds ripe plums

14 ounces honey

1 T apple cider vinegar

1 T tamarind jam

Pitt plums and put into a large pot along with 1/3 of the pits. Cover with water and boil, uncovered, for 1 hour.  Stir occasionally, adding water as necessary to keep everything covered.  After one hour, remove the pits.  Simmer for 20 minutes.  Let cool.  Add all the rest of ingredients; honey, apple cider vinegar, and tamarind jam. Pour into glass containers which can be sealed tightly.

For optimal results, consume 1 tbsp of the jam early in the morning, preferably on empty stomach. This gives you great benefits in cleansing the entire gastrointestinal tract and will help with constipation or hardened stools.

HERBAL COLON CLEANSING TEA

7 ounces water

2 cloves

2 t crushed ginger

5-6 fresh basil leaves

3-4 fresh mint leaves

1 T lemon juice

This is one of the simplest recipes for a natural colon cleanse.  And the tea does not contain any milk!

Bring water to a boil then reduce to a bubbling simmer.  Add ginger. Simmer for 3 minutes. Add cloves and crushed ginger. Simmer for 3 minutes.  Add basil and mint leaves and let simmer for 5 minutes.  When the water turns a brownish color remove from stove and let cool.  Add lemon juice. Consume lukewarm. Drink every day for one month.  Be aware that this is very acidic.

CELERY, SPINACH, & WHEAT GRASS JUICE CLEANSE

The following colon cleanse recipe is not only good for colon cleansing, but it’s full of nutrients.

6 oz Celery juice

1 oz Wheat grass Juice

1 oz Spinach juice

1 oz Cabbage juice

1 oz Parsley or Alfalfa Sprouts

Combine the above in a blender. Drink two to three times a day for 7-10 days.

BANANA, PAPAYA & FLAXSEED

½ Banana

½ Ripe Papaya

2 Tbsp Flaxseed

2 Tbsp Wheat or Barley Grass Powder

2 Tbsp Acidophilus (obtain from health food store or local pharmacy)

1-2 cups Distilled or Spring Water

Mix ingredients in a blender and drink on an empty stomach, one hour before or after medications or other supplements are taken. Gradually increase to three drinks a day for 7-10 days or until desired results achieved.

THE COLON CLEANSE

Drinking a cup of this warm tea increases circulation to the digestive tract, relieves gas and abdominal discomfort, cramping, and promotes colon health.

¼ in Grated ginger root

1 tsp Honey

1 tsp Chamomile

1 tsp Peppermint

Let steep for 15 minutes before drinking. Begin with one cup a day and increase as your body adjusts for a gentle colon cleansing. Continue for at least 7-10 days.

DR. OZ’S RECIPE (FROM OPRAH) *

*Also known as the Lemonade Diet or The Master Cleanse. This colon cleanse recipe is very popular with Hollywood stars.

2 Tbsp Organic lemon juice (fresh)

2 Tbsp Organic maple syrup

Dash Cayenne pepper

10 oz Purified Water

This is also known as the Lemonade Diet.   This is a 10-30 day fast where all you get is the lemonade concoction.  This cleanse is very hip in Hollywood right now.

OPRAH’S GREEN DRINK RECIPE

1 celery stick

2 apples chopped

1 medium cucumber diced

1 cup raw spinach

½ cup parsley, chopped

Small piece of peeled ginger

Juice of 1 Lemon

Blend the ingredients with purified water and ice cubes. Add raw carrot juice or unsweetened fruit juice to sweeten, if you prefer. This is very effective for weight loss, as well as providing a gentle colon cleanse.

PSYLLIUM & BENTONITE COLON CLEANSE

One of the most effective ways to cleanse the colon is with a psyllium and bentonite cleanse. Be sure to drink the shake an hour before or after taking any medications or other supplements. It should be taken on an empty stomach, like first thing in the morning or right before bedtime. The ingredients in this colon cleanse recipe are very effective, but it can’t be stressed enough how important it is to drink plenty of water during the cleansing.

1 T liquid bentonite (If you have to use the powdered form, add water to make it into a pudding type consistency before using )
1 t powdered psyllium (or 1 Tbsp whole husk psyllium)

8-10 oz distilled or spring water

Shake and drink immediately as mixture will begin to gel if allowed to sit. Follow with another 8-10 ounces of distilled or spring water.

It is crucial to drink plenty of water throughout the day when using this colon cleanse recipe.

Each of us should be drinking half their body weight in ounces whether cleansing or not. (Example: 150 lb person should drink 75 oz of water.) So, it’s a great habit to get into. If you are one of those people who just hate to drink water, add a little lemon or lime juice.  You may be surprised how drinking water actually increases the desire for water over other beverages once you start drinking it on a regular basis.

Begin with one shake a day and gradually increase up to three a day. This gives your body time to adjust to the added fiber. Continue drinking the shakes until you are having one to two normal bowel movements a day. You should no longer feel bloated and your energy level should increase. Should you experience constipation with this colon cleanse recipe, drink fewer shakes and increase water intake until the problem resolves.
As mentioned earlier, be sure to take probiotics, such as acidophilus, after your cleanse as this powerful colon cleanse recipe will flush the good bacteria and microorganisms out with the toxins and built up fecal matter. It is critical that you restore them to your system so they can continue to do their part in keeping your colon clean.

RAW GREEN SOUP CLEANSE

1-2 avocados

2-3 cucumbers seeded and peeled

½ diced onion

1 seeded jalapeno

3 cloves roasted garlic

2 cups vegetable stock

Juice from ½ lemon

1 Tbsp parsley

1 Tbsp cilantro

This is a gentle, nutritious colon cleanse recipe.  One or two bowls should get things moving.
